Why buy certified organic essential oils and other aromatic products?

Let’s start by mentioning that you promote a product that comes from organic agriculture. This means the raw materials are grown without the use of harsh chemicals that are harmful to the flora, animals and humans involved in farming.

Within the market of essential oils, certified organics represent less than half of a percent of global production. By choosing certified organic oils you support small artisans who take their craft to heart and work at preserving traditional methods and ancestral know-how. You also have the assurance that the products you are buying come from a serious company respecting the very strict transformation, production and sales norms set forth by ECOCERT Canada.

What do the terms EXTRA & TRUE mean?

The term “EXTRA” is an in-house term to denote premium quality (vs. industrial quality).

We sometimes use the term “TRUE” for certain essential oils (i.e. HE212B Melissa), because it is common to find fake ones on the market. We do not offer any fake essential oils.

In other cases, you may find an essential oil that is known as a true species. Let’s use Cinnamon as an example. We offer:

Organic True Cinnamon, Cinnamomum Zelanicum – Leaf & twig (HE036B)

or

Organic True Cinnamon, Cinnamomum Zelanicum – Bark (HE038B)

People will sometimes use a different species (i.e. Cinnamon False Cassia) and still refer to it as cinnamon. True Cinnamon is preferred by pastry chefs. When you go to the grocery store and buy cinnamon sticks, you buy the false ones.

What is the meaning of the term 100% Pure & Natural?

The term 100% Pure & Natural means that the essential oil is guaranteed non-deterpenated, non-rectified, undiluted: without alcohol, synthetic diluents, turpentine, or other substances. The use of this term is embedded in the legislation of some European countries.

Are DIVINE ESSENCE® Essential Oils therapeutic grade quality?

Most of the DIVINE ESSENCE® essential oils are recommended for therapeutic use, but should always be diluted in vegetable oil. Only use essential oils that are 100% pure and natural and when possible certified organic. IMPORTANT: Never swallow undiluted essential oils without the recommendation of a certified aromatherapist or healthcare practitioner.

We assume no liability in the case of any accidents.

Difference between Ravintsara and Ravensare Aromatica/Anisata

RAVINTSARA
(Cinnamomum Camphora) Leaf

RAVENSARE AROMATICA
and
RAVENSARE ANISATA or HAVOZO (Ravensara Anisata) Bark

European botanists rediscovered this tree from Madagascar more than 50 years ago. At that time, its name was translated from Malagasy to French as Ravensare Aromatique (Ravensara Aromatica).

Around the year 2000, botanists met again and realized that the common and botanical names were mistakenly translated. Since then, specialists from around the world agreed to rename this Malagasy camphor tree: Ravintsara (Cinnamomum Camphora)

UNION NATURE immediately changed the name of this essential oil when we learned about the mistake.

Many recent books and other publications continue to maintain the confusion by still naming this tree under its old name Ravensare Aromatica.

Please pay attention when you are looking for Ravensare Aromatica. 99.9% of the time people are looking for Ravintsara!

The essential oil of Ravintsara has a fresh and camphor smell due to its high content of 1.8 cineol.

Very little research has been done on the Ravensara Aromatica tree.

Two essential oils are obtained from this tree:

a) The Ravensare Aromatica comes from the steam distillation of the leaf. The properties of this essential oil are very different from Ravintsara and the odor is not very pleasant.

b) The Ravensare Anisata (Ravensara Anisata) comes from the steam distillation of the bark. This essential oil has a strong anise smell.

We can say that Ravensare Aromatica and Ravensara Anisata are synonyms since the essential oils come from the same tree.

UNION NATURE strongly doesn't recommend the use of the Ravensare Aromatica and Ravensara Anisata due to the negative impact on Madagascar ecosystems of the exploitation of this tree.

Some floral waters have a special scent/smell.

This is true, because DIVINE ESSENCE® floral waters are guaranteed non reconstituted, with no preservatives and no emulsifiers. As an example, fine lavender floral water is quite particular because during the distillation process other parts of the plant are used and not just the flowering tips. Therefore the difference between a floral water and pure essential oil becomes significant. The vast majority of floral waters on the market have been falsified, reconstituted or cut with added perfumes, preservatives, and/or emulsifiers.

The Argan oil has a very special smell.

The smell is perfectly normal. We offer you a non-refined Argan oil ideal for cosmetic use. You can also find on the market a food grade Argan oil. In this case, the aroma will remind us of hazelnut since the Argan nut is roasted.

What are the benefits of DIVINE ESSENCE® rosehip?

The rosehip oil is an exceptional organic, first cold pressed, virgin vegetable oil. It has strong regenerative, healing, anti-wrinkle properties. Unfortunately, it is widely used in a refined form in high end anti-aging creams and body lotions. Used in its pure form it is excellent in reducing and preventing wrinkles and works wonders on scars and stretch marks. It is recommended for dry cracked skin. It's excellent for relieving sunburn pain and helping skin heal quicker.

What is the difference between a diffuser, burner and ultrasonic nebulizer?

AERIUM® DIFFUSER
The AERIUM® aromatherapy diffuser is a glass nebulizer connected to an air pump, which creates a process of cold vaporization of the essential oils. It is designed to vaporize and disperse extremely fine particles of essential oils directly into the air. This avoids heating and altering the oil. The micro-drops of essential oil will sterilize the air, providing a cleaner and fresher atmosphere for several hours. The AERIUM® aromatherapy diffuser is an excellent natural method to effectively fight airborne bacteria, viruses, mildew, cooking odours, pet smells, tobacco smoke, insects (particularly dusk mites in carpets) and much more...

Run the diffuser for 5 to 30 minutes then unplug the power cord. The air pump can be connected to an automatic timer. Avoid over-saturating the air in your room. Do not run the diffuser continuously. Avoid running the diffuser with children under 2 years of age present, without medical advice. Keep out of the reach of children!

DIFFUSIUM™ BURNER
It is the most common and cheapest method. It consists of heating an essential oil with water. Most therapeutic essential oil properties are lost while using a burner because it is heated. Therefore, if you wish to create a peaceful mood/ambiance at home or elsewhere, burners are useful. The recommended blends and simple essential oils for diffusion can also be used with DIFFUSIUM™ burners.

ULTRASONIC NEBULIZER
Works with essential oil and water. The high-frequency vibrations will turn the essential oil and water into a mist. No heat is involved. The smell will be less strong than AERIUM® diffuser and you will be able to run it few hours straight. The aromatherapy benefits of using this device remain to be proven.

My AERIUM® diffuser is not working properly.

99% of the problems are due to a misunderstanding of the instruction manual. In most cases the diffuser is clogged.

REMINDER – CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In order to obtain maximum performance from your diffuser, it is highly recommended to clean it on a regular basis:
    • Normal use (once a day): the nebulizer should be cleaned at least once a month.
    • Intensive use (multiple times a day): the nebulizer should be cleaned at least twice a month.
  2. Pour 15ml (½ oz.) of 70% rubbing alcohol only into the fill hole of the nebulizer:
    • Run for 5 to 10 minutes. Avoid breathing in the alcohol mist.
    • Unplug the power cord and shake thoroughly the nebulizer (holding it by its base with your thumb on the fill hole) until all of the sticky residues that have accumulated on the inner walls have dissolved.
    • Remove the rubbing alcohol and allow the nebulizer to dry out completely before using.
    • If the diffuser is very dirty please repeat cleaning operation a second time.
    • Never use water or soap (any type of cleaner) to clean the diffuser!
